Bug#1019202: dh-make-elpa: crashes with: Can't locate object method "gecos"

one other thing i noticed is that if you run lintian with
--show-overrides lintian may give the wrong exit code (lintian bug -
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1019690 )
