[please don't CC me on list postings] As I said in my previous posting, I think it would be better to extend apt-cache's search capability so that it is can do searches on other fields (allowing you to filter out the packages whose Section does not contain nonfree), rather than just having an option to limit the results to free packages. But I'm not the apt-cache author, so it isn't my call.
