I just added that part because I've managed to run mutt under emacs. It
works under ansi-term. But I found that I can't get emacspeak to read
the body of the mail. I must use festival-say-buffer.

Thanks to all who gave their feed. I'm thinking of trying out all three
suggested (wl and mew, too)  as there appears to be no packaging
conflicts between  them.
