Package: debian-edu-config
Version: 2.11.14
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

The pacparser source package is unmaintained and RC buggy. As a result,
I have asked to have it removed from Debian (Bug #952963).
debian-edu-config depends on libpacparser1. It is the only rdepend.

If libpacparser1 is not important to debian-edu, please drop the depends
to the removal can proceed. If it is important to debian-edu, please
take over maintenance of the package.

I can provide a debdiff to drop the python2 bits from the package. I
was preparing an NMU to do so when I realized how hopelessly out of date
the packaging is (compat = 5). It won't be long before it either has to
be removed anyway due to the package breaking or someone will have to
re-invest the time in seriously modernizing it.

If no one is interested (and there's no sign of it so far), I think it's
better to just remove it.

Please let me know your preference. At some point we'll probably need
to go ahead with the rm of pacparser to keep the python2-rm process
moving.

Hi Scott,

thanks for your work on the python2 removal!

tracker.d.o reminds us of unmaintained packages in dependencies and it seems
the pacparser removal attempt has been made mood by fixing the python2 depends,
thus I'm closing this bug as it's unactionable for debian-edu-config.
