This is _not_ an option!!!The .svg in debian-edu-artwork-spacefun has been generated from the largest .png with the "Vectorize bitmap" tool. The .svg is required for lightdm (as lightdm choked on .png files with my tests).
The quality of the .svg is bad and only hardly tolerable. Re-generating PNG files from it would end-up in a theme with very low quality backgrounds.
