Hi all,for our customers I had to revisit the debian-edu-artwork package. The demand was/is: re-use the Debian Edu artwork from Debian Edu squeeze on Debian Edu wheezy and beyond.
Of course, I have _NOT_ undone the Joy artwork!!! What I have done is:o restructure the package to allow for multiple Edu artworks to co-exist on one Debian system
o split up bin:package debian-edu-artwork into
- debian-edu-artwork (common files)
- debian-edu-artwork-spacefun (Edu squeeze artwork)
- debian-edu-artwork-joy (Edu wheezy artwork)
- future... debian-edu-artwork-<jessie-theme-name>
I have been working on this for quite a few days and the first result
is visible now on a feature branch on git.debian.org [1]. There is
still a bit to do (e.g. MATE desktop integration), but the current
status of the debian-edu-artwork package in wheezy (and squeeze) has
been achieved again.
Esp. Wolfgang, can you take a look at the new packaging structure and give feedback? The package builds and installs fine on Debian wheezy. I have to test the package against a Debian jessie system still. (Maybe someone is interested in doing that?)
@Holger, @Gismo: one major problem of re-viving the Edu spacefun theme is that I only have PNGs of that theme. However, e.g. lightdm is really picky about the login-background.svg and it seems that only SVGs get accepted. For now, I have re-created SVGs with inkscape's object path tool. But the quality is quite low. Does anyone of you by any chance have original SVGs of the Debian Edu artwork from Debian Edu squeeze (aka Edu spacefun theme)?
