Just tested that today: I went back to work to try and install again,
after declaring the hostile proxy via preseed or via the apt-setup step
inside d-i, but the same debian-edu-profile step failed because of this
wget test in each case (and I didn’t even tried via apt-cacher-ng, since
it will fail anyway).

During the apt-setup step, wget is used according to the log on the 4th
screen, and succeed to fetch the (official d.o) Packages lists (and even
some www.d.o pages apparently), only the debian-edu-profile step fails
(so the debian-edu mirrors are not added).

Currently, in order to install debian-edu behind a proxy, one has to
manually edit /target/etc/apt/sources.list after the apt-setup step,
chroot into /target, install debian-edu-archive-keyring, and run
“apt-get update” in order to hope finishing the installation, that’s
pretty underwhelming.

I’m fine with a fat warning, saying that something went wrong while
trying to connect to ftp.skolelinux.org, but please, don’t make it a
condition to enable mirrors, that’s just plain wrong. Please at least
allow people to continue the install if they know what they are doing.

Regards

David
