What is the output from 'debian-edu-test-install |grep error:' on the
roaming workstation?
It should test most stuff to give us some idea about what could be
wrong.
Are you using KDE? Which language did you select? Did you install
using PXE? I lack the test bed to test this myself, so I am very
happy that you are testing it. :)
