Please join the discussion on debian-blends list [Was: Debian Pure Blends, Debian blends, Debian derivatives]

Hi,

this thread on debian-blends list seems to be quite relevant for Debian
Edu - probably you might like to join the discussion.

Kind regards

       Andreas.

I agree with that assessment.

Looks like the discussion is over

Just browsing the Debian Edu wiki page, I note that there are more
ways (than just #311188) in which Debian Edu could be more or better
integrated into Debian. Some examples:

The DebianEdu hardware wiki pages are slightly separate to the Debian
hardware pages, they could be renamed to fit better:

http://wiki.debian.org/DebianEdu/Hardware
http://wiki.debian.org/InstallingDebianOn
http://wiki.debian.org/Hardware

The IRC channels for support are #skolelinux instead of #debian.

The DebianEdu/Skolelinux CD images are not on cdimage.debian.org, this
is a general problem with most specialised blends though. Not sure how
solvable it is, but at least jigdo files for each blend could be
distributed.

Skolelinux folks distribute DebianEdu CDs but not Debian CDs, it would
be great if they distributed both and were listed on the CD vendors
page.

http://wiki.debian.org/DebianEdu/GetStarted/Cd
http://www.debian.org/CD/vendors/

It would be good to have the linux-signpost website at apps.debian.org
or in packages.debian.org/apps.

http://www.skolelinux.no/linux-signpost/

The list of professional support and installation services could be
merged with the Debian consultants and pre-install website pages.

http://wiki.debian.org/DebianEdu/Help/ProfessionalHelp
http://www.debian.org/consultants/
http://www.debian.org/distrib/pre-installed

The Skolelinux Bugzilla instance could have its bugs moved to
bugs.debian.org and then closed. DebianEdu folks could use usertags to
tag bugs that are specificially a concern for DebianEdu users.

http://bugs.skolelinux.no/

Some of the mailing lists could be hosted at lists.debian.org or
lists.alioth.debian.org.

http://wiki.debian.org/DebianEdu/MailingLists

The reference schools page could be integrated with Debian's list of users:

http://wiki.debian.org/DebianEdu/ReferenceSchools
http://www.debian.org/users/

SLX Debian Labs is not yet listed on the Debian donations page.

http://www.debian.org/donations
http://www.linuxiskolen.no/slxdebianlabs/donations.html

There are probably more, but this will do for now.
