[Bug 1447] New: Graphical login does not allow to use umlauts (ä, ö, ü etc.)

http://bugs.skolelinux.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1447

Summary: Graphical login does not allow to use umlauts (ä, ö, ü
                    etc.)
           Product: Skolelinux
           Version: lenny
          Platform: x86
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P3
         Component: System distrubution
        AssignedTo: debian-edu@lists.debian.org
        ReportedBy: mietzsch@gmx.de

During installation as a single place system ("Einzelplatzrechner" in German),
I used "äöüß" (a-Umlaut, o-Umlaut, etc.) as a password for the user. With this
password, I tried to login on the graphical login screen (KDE). This login
failed ("Anmeldung fehlgeschlagen"). However, I can login with the same
password on the text console. This will allow an experienced user to change the
password.
Root can not login at the graphical screen at all.
I expect that all characters can be used for both graphical and text login
password, or a warning is expressed which characters are allowed.
