I notice two obvious slowdowns.  One is that update-hostname-from-ip is doing
dpkg -S and spend >10 seconds on it.  The other is that resolvconf spend a few
seconds wasting time.  I rewrote the first to avoid the dpkg -S call, and will
try to get rid of the latter, either by removing the package or by disabling
the init.d script.
