I've optimized the boot quite a bit for thin clients and diskless workstation
in lenny-test. I dropped unneeded init.d scripts from thin clients and moved
some scripts to only run on diskless workstation, as well as made sure needed
directories are writable at boot.
Please test and see if the problem is fixed or not. There are still some
issues with diskless workstation, but those should be unrelated to the slow
boot.
