I suspect the cause is the lack of a loopback interface.  Try adding 'auto lo'
in /opt/ltsp/i386/etc/network/interfaces and see if the situation improve.

Also, the resolv.conf file should be changed to use 10.0.2.2 or 192.168.0.254,
but I am not sure that causes the slowdown.
