I delieberately avoid dcommit (a.k.a. debcommit) to make it easier to later revert the change if needed - or perhaps cherry-pick it for another branch, or even another project.
For git-based packaging I instead use the excellent alternative "git dch". No similar tool exist for subversion, I suspect.
