Re: Problem with Adaptec 2100s

The problem with the adaptec raid controllers are still present, I
suspect. The bug report in
<URL: http://bugs.skolelinux.no/show_bug.cgi?id=1254 > seem very
similar. The report make me suspect that the problem might be that
udev and discover loads two different modules.

If this is the case, it would make a difference if the DVD or the
netinstall CD is used when installing. The DVD in Skolelinux version
3.0r0 installs discover1, while the netinstall CD installs discover
(v2). The v2 package do not try to load kernel modules during boot,
and is the default that will be used also on the DVD for version 3.0r1.

Can anyone with the hardware in question test and confirm that the
problem only is present with the DVD install?

Did anyone succeed in finding a proper solution for this problem? How
can we fix it permanently in r1 and Debian? Can anyone publish the
output of 'lspci -nn' on the machines with problems (or even better,
attach /var/log/installer/syslog and the output from
'/usr/share/bug/discover-data 3>&1' to bug report #484).

Happy hacking,
