openSUSE Edu-CD, some applications and the norwegian center for mathematic
I just came across the openSUSE educational effort,
<URL:http://en.opensuse.org/Edu-CD>, and decided to have a look at
their packages to see if there were something to include in Debian
Edu. A quick glance told me that they at least include koha and
moodle on their server 'channel', and on the user side I found an
application called geonext, <URL:http://geonext.uni-bayreuth.de/>. It
is a java application. Perhaps something to get into Debian?
While searching for geonext, I discovered that the norwegian center
for mathematics, <URL:http://www.matematikksenteret.no/>, is promoting
geonext as a good tool to teach mathenatics. They are also promoting
geogebra, <URL:http://www.geogebra.org/cms/>, which is another java
application. Perhaps also something to get into Debian? Both the
Java applications are GPL. :)
But it occured to me, perhaps someone in the Norwegian branch of the
project should contact the norwegian center for mathematics and try to
get them to evaluate the programs included in release 3.0r0 of Debian
Edu? It would be interesting to know what they thought of our set of
applications. :)
Just spreading the idea, in case someone have time to look into this.
Happy hacking,
