Based on the article provided from
<URL: http://labs.google.com/papers/disk_failures.pdf >, I decided the
smart tools were not reliably enough to predict failing disks, and
dropped them from the default installation.  The packages are still included
on the DVD, but not activated by default.  Because of this, I close this
bug as fixed.
