I suspect the menu entries should use full path, and that it is the correct
fix for this problem.  I'm not sure about the consequences of sourcing
/etc/profile from ldm, and do not recommend that before we investigate more.
Perhaps ssh should source /etc/profile when logging in?  Is it reading
/etc/environment?  I suspect it should do both.
