[Bug 1006] New: Workstation installation fails to bring up eth0 (via-rhine)

http://bugs.skolelinux.no/show_bug.cgi?id=1006

Summary: Workstation installation fails to bring up eth0 (via-
                    rhine)
           Product: Skolelinux
           Version: sarge-pr06
          Platform: x86
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: blocker
          Priority: P1
         Component: debian-edu-config
        AssignedTo: debian-edu@lists.debian.org
        ReportedBy: rgx@gmx.de
                CC: rgx@gmx.de

Installing debian-edu-pr06 failed on several identical Celeron 400 machines
with a PCI NIC by D-Link TX-530 (very common). I could reproduce the error -
while pr05 succeeded using the same machine and module (via-rhine).

Profile: Workstation
Device: via-rhine;;;VIA Technologies, Inc.;VT86C100A [Rhine];
(Supposedly it is a D-Link TX-530 - but it works always with via-rhine under
lx)

The system installs, but at some point there is an authorisation error (not to
be found in the logs that I will attach) - something like pcihw or pcife for
hotplug.

Then the via-rhine module gets loaded, but it is not possible to bring up the
device (not found). No way to unload the module - this causes a memory fault
(IIRC).

I will try to get more details, but more than these log files didn't fit on the
floppy (the cdebconf folder is very large, do you need its contents, too?)
