The trouble is that a lot of "upgrades" are done like this:
-make sure you have a backup
-do a clean installation
-fetch everything from backup

oops - sorry, I accidentially rewrote your email config

(and most people dont know what the password for their email server is, because
that information is saved in the config file, and is of course encrypted)
