Kmail's config corruption bug is now filed at  
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=118351  
  
What about putting kmail settings in /usr/share/debian-edu/... and 
not /etc/skel *only* on new installations and not updating existing 
installations (or only /etc/skel) until the bug in kmail has been fixed? 
  
Where possible please avoid distributing stuff with /etc/skel.
