Not sure if you are talking about the client setup or the serer setup when you
states that the "to my knowlege it has never acutally worked out of the box yet"

for Wood, the server worked out of the box, and I think it works out of the box
now for Sarge. Yes, You have to adjust it to accept mail from the outside, but
it's hard for us to guess what domain we should accept mail to. 

But to have some global settings that overrules the users personalized settings
is wrong. at least when it's so poor documented, and causes the accounts of the
users to be overwritten. 

I would like to move the email configuration back to /etc/skel
