The messages releating to "kernel could not re-read the partition table " are
'normal', I see those too when setting up raid or lvm, but I've never had any
trouble setting up raid1/5 manually during installation with debian-edu.

AFAIK the manuall partition is done with 'autopartkit', while you use 'partman'
when you do it manually.
