[Bug 970] New: software raid setup with debian-installer (on pre5) does not work
http://bugs.skolelinux.no/show_bug.cgi?id=970
Summary: software raid setup with debian-installer (on pre5) does
not work
Product: Skolelinux
Version: sarge-pr05
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: Installation system
AssignedTo: debian-edu@lists.debian.org
ReportedBy: c.gatzemeier@tu-bs.de
During manual partitioning of two ide disks d-i shows an error message that
the kernel could not re-read the partition table (invalid argument) and
suggested to reboot. This happened after writing the partition table when
entering the LVM setup.
However LVM on RAID does successfully install (raid 1 /dev/md[0,1] as physical
volumes in volume groups) on the very same hardware with the debian-installer
and kernel from plain debian 3.1r0a CDs. It also works from unbuntu hoary CDs.
So it seems to be somthing related to the skolelinux install system or CD building.
Maybe other versions of d-i? Kernel config? A process accessing the disk during
setup (newdrifbook talks about stoping smartsuite in the running system when
doing this)
