[Bug 952] New: Because Skolelinux uses an outdated version of webmin it could not be used for administration

http://bugs.skolelinux.no/show_bug.cgi?id=952

Summary: Because Skolelinux uses an outdated version of webmin it
could not be used for administration
           Product: Skolelinux
           Version: sarge-pr04
          Platform: x86
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: critical
          Priority: P1
         Component: Configuration
        AssignedTo: debian-edu@lists.debian.org
        ReportedBy: juergen@leibner-net.de

After setting up a combined server with the main and the terminalserver
profiles, I wanted to configure the server for use like a teacher at school
should normaly do.
I need samba, lvm, ltsp, webalizer and some other webmin-modules, but they
are'nt there.
So I wanted to load them with webmin itself, but it was not possible because the
installed version of webmin is out of date (1.1.8-3). So I decided to let webmin
update itself from www.webmin.com.
Webmin updated itself to 1.2.10 successfully, but then wlus and webmin-netgroups
modules and the /etc/init.d/webmin script doesen't work no more. This is,
because webmin installed itself into /usr/share/webmin-1.2.10 instead of
/usr/share/webmin.
I think, webmin has to be installed in the newest version available to get the
modules for administration you need.
Webmin is the only chance for admins with less knowledge of administrating
skolelinux on the console, so nothing is as worse as to loose this GUI for
administration tasks.
