Efficient and fun developer gathering in Bergen (Norway) june 2005

It was more then 25 participant at the developer gathering the last
weekend of 10-12 of June. This was an efficient gathering with new
motivation to move forward was the feedback from developers and
translators.

8 new persons was tending the gathering. 5 of them would contribute to
the next version. There came 3 new translators. Many had considerable
experience with Linux, and was quick to catch up. We focused on the
next version of Skolelinux to get the config-files at the right place,
and choose the right strategy. A lot of translation and quality
insurance were also done.

It also was exiting sharing of experiences with the Ubuntu-developers
lead by Mark Shuttleworth. The focuses was on patch-handling when
doing distributed development, and systems to share translation of
computerprogram with other projects without stumbling on each other.

The localities at St. Paul Schools was well suited for developers. We
just plugged in to the network that work as a breeze. The schools
ICT-person helped all weekend to help organising practical things
without any glitch. A great thanks to the St. Paul's Catholic School
and Jakob Breivik Grimstveit for all the help.

Petter Reinholdtsen announced that the next version of Skolelinux
probably would be ready before Christmas 2005. We should help our new
developers through the first painful steps, so that we can keep up the
phase forward that we experienced this weekend. Then we have chance to
make a new release possible.

I hope what more people can give some feedback on their experiences at
the gathering :-)

Thanks Knut Yrvin
Project leader Skolelinux Norway
