Annoying, yes, but haven't seen it cause any system damage.
Guess there are open files left when unmounting the filesystems.
Seems like filesystems are remounted read-only when impossible to unmount
properly (as in «umount -r»). This method at least leaves the filesystem in a
consistent state.
Then, as shown in the screenshot, the volume groups can't close because there
are open (read-only) partitions.
At reboot, the volume groups open properly again, no damages have been
experienced yet.
So the question remains:
How much risk is (problem above) to the system?
