Yes, everyone understands the name «postoffice». But you practically have to
look up the bind setup to be able to guess it. Not everyone knows how.

Names 'mail' and 'smtp' are very common with ISPs, so I guess everyone should be
able to guess it.
Agree that «pop3» etc.. doesnt sound good but «mail» is rather common for
incoming mail and «imap» has also been seen.

I don't doubt that «postoffice» works as a name (or was it «postmaster»? Or
whatever..). But as long as everyone don't have their noses down some very good
documentation all the time, the idea was to have some names that are commonly
used, and thereby easy to guess and remember.

By the by, using exim everywhere is fine with me. Just had to point out the
possibility. (Plus, a 33 Kb package doesn't fill much.)
