Aha. This could do the difference.
You don't redirect port 80 to the proxy cache, while you're at it?

And no. It's been like this, from fresh installs, even since the woody
prereleases. I doubted then, but I've got far too much experience with this to
do that now. (And come to think, I've got complaints for *not* filing the bugs I
find early enough? [1])
If it's misconfigured, then it's by default.

The worst thing is, I feel I have to treat people like idiots, just because I
tend to see things from different perspectives (from the most dominant group.
Note that a whole lot of people choose to stay silent.) 

And that I'm treated like an idiot back.

Things usually *have* a lot of viewpoints to them, and there's nothing wrong in
seeing either one or another. But thinking that your own point of view is the
only valid one, thus making everything else wrong, *that* is a bad one.
