Users tend even to mix up Linux as an operation system and KDE as a
window manager. Hence I give the freedom of choice to advanced users by
offering alternative window managers. Some chose icewm for performance
reasons, some fluxbock because they think geeky is cool. The lesson
they get is: You can't blame GNU/Linux when KDE hangs ;)
As for update cycles, I'd claim: not the rate of updates per year is
important, but the sustainability of the system as whole. What is the
pro of Debian (if it works) is the feature of sliding (seemingless)
updates (apt-get upgrade).
