This report covers the past two weeks. I did not have time to prepare a
report last week, because my home server lost 1/3 of its lvm array on
Monday and I was busy backing up what I could before the disk fully died
and reinstalling it. Now I'm using lvm over raid 5 for that system..
So, done in the past two weeks:
* spent several days restoring my home server and getting
the automated install tests back online and fully
working again
* worked on hppa kernel update for d-i
* fix sarge CD building to include local udebs on the CD
* found a new host for d-i arm daily builds
* wrote timeline for d-i rc3
* decided which changes to include in d-i rc3 (mostly)
* decided how to merge changes to the build system for rc3
* NMUed speakup kernels for security fixes, ABI change
* checked all the kernel versions throughout d-i for consistency
and finished up the remaining bits (mostly)
* worked on getting all security fixed kernels into sarge
(done except for powerpc).
* continued working on sarge security, including several
other NMUs, though I'm happy to report that two other people
in the sarge security team have been handling a lot of the
work of checking new vunerabilities and filing bugs.
* talked with the kernel team about how to handle some new
kernel security holes with respect to d-i releases.
* perpared a hercules update so it can be used with 2.6.8
kernels (not yet uploaded)
* probably some other stuff that I've forgotten.
Plans for next week:
* Most of my work this week will be dictated by the d-i
rc3 timeline:
- Need final go/no-go list of udebs for rc3 by tomorrow.
- Get udebs into testing on Wednesday, and work on
source propigation too.
- Get parted, debootstrap into testing on Wednesday.
- Finish up changes to build system by Wednesday too.
- Begin d-i test build late on Wednesday.
- Most of Thursday will be spent updating the sarge
branch in svn to reflect rc3's changes.
* I'll be in Vancouver for the release manager's meeting
March 4-7.
* Find some time in there somewhere to work on sarge
security updates.
