as I can't find my reply in my list folder, let me repeat: the error is not in 
the script, which works if started by hand. it is in the samba configuration 
that prevent win2k clients from auto starting login.bat.

Now there is some news: I'm just checking /var/log/samba/<host> and find these 
entries:
