New Skolelinux CD image prerelease 45 (pr45)
I've made a new Skolelinux CD image, prerelease 45. It is available
from <URL:ftp://developer.skolelinux.no/skolelinux-cd/>. The image
size is 648 MiB.
Major changes since the previous image:
* In first stage installer (debian-installer):
+ Upgraded boot floppy to the latest version. (Petter)
+ Upgraded from kernel 2.4.22 to 2.4.24. (Petter)
* Fixed several problems with LDAP bootstraping. (Petter)
* Included a new version of the slbackup webmin-module. (Werner)
* Included nagios host and service monitoring system on the CD. (Ragnar)
(fixes bug #199)
* Fix typo in openldap translation file, to get rid of warning during
install. (Klaus)
* Security updates to: cvs (to 1.11.1p1debian-9 / DSA-422-1),
netpbm-free (to 2:9.20-8.4 / DSA-425), tcpdump (to 3.6.2-2.7 /
DSA-425)
* I probably forgot something.
I have testet that the CD is bootable and installable using VMWare.
A list of known bugs is available from <URL:http://bugs.skolelinux.no/>.
The following configuration for server and LTSP-server should work out
of the box:
- Apache
- CUPS
- DHCP
- DNS
- LDAP
- LTSP
- NFS
- NTP
- SMTP/IMAP over SSL
- SSH
- Squid
- Webmin
- User administration
- Backup
The following services do not work as they should:
- SMB (lack LDAP authentication)
- cfengine (need host netgroups)
- SQL-server (unable to install automatically)
- Appletalk (no one has worked on it)
- Host and service monitoring. (first draft on CD)
Test it and find out more. :-)
The disk usage for the different profiles (in KiB) is as follows.
