New Skolelinux CD image prerelease 38 (pr38)
I've make a new Skolelinux CD image, prerelease 38. It is available
from <URL:ftp://developer.skolelinux.no/skolelinux-cd/>. The image
size is 650 MiB.
Major changes since the previous image:
- In first stage installer (debian-installer):
- Now uses Norwegian keyboard if norwegian language is
selected. [Debian/Petter]
- Partition the first disk on machines where libparted didn't list
the partition in sorted order. (Fixes bug #335) [Petter]
- Convert all ext2 to ext3 partitions before booting from HD. [Tor
Håkon/Petter]
- Turned on UTF-8 support in the linux console during
installation. This make sure æøå is displayed. (Fixes bug #314)

- Configure network before reboot, to avoid using the dangerous
etherconf package.
- Improved HW detection on SCSI hosts. [Petter/Per Harald/Rune]
- Added webmin module for CUPS administration. [Rune]
- Added kschoolmenu to edit the K-menu. [Finn-Arne]
- Added task-skolelinux-laptop to ease the installation on a
laptop. [Finn-Arne]
- Changed exim-ldap-client.conf so that Workstations and ltsp-server
now uses postoffice as smarthost. [Finn-Arne]
- Corrected postoffice configuration to make it independant from the
user home directories. [Finn-Arne]
- Security updates to glibc (to 2.2.5-11.5), gs-common (to
0.3.3.0woody1), kdegraphics (to 4:2.2.2-6.10), kdelibs (to
4:2.2.2-13.woody.7), mime-support (to 3.18-1.2), mutt (to
1.3.28-2.2), netpbm-free (to 2:9.20-8.2), tcpdump (to 3.6.2-2.4),

- Upgraded the LTSP core package from 3.0.0-0 to 3.0.7-0 and the
LTSP-x-core from 3.0.0-0 to 3.0.4-1. [Ragnar]
- Now sets correct defaults for Norwegian Bokmål. Fixed bug
introduced in pr37. (Fixes bug #328) [Klaus/Petter]
- Now sets correct broadcast addres on the server. (Fixes bug #283). [Petter]
- Corrected dhcpd configuration. (Fixes bug #366). [Rune]
- Reinserted the menu package (Fixes bug 363). [Petter]
- Added Dutch, French and German as a supported language. [Bart/Petter]
- Added Danish as a supported language. [Jonas/Petter]
- Started on automount using LDAP configuration. [Rune/Finn-Arne]
- Several improvements to the Standalone profile, and a new
supplemetary profile standaloneextra. [Helge/studgroup]
- Improvements to the LDAP configuration. [Rune/etc]
- Some cleanup in the DNS configuration [Rune]
- Make it possible to boot the CD from dos/windows, using the
install/boot.bat script. [Per Harald/Petter]
- Removed skolelinux-spesific code to set keyboard layout. this is
now done using the new Debian installer. [Petter/Debian]
- Started on samba with LDAP configuration. [Svein Magne/studgroup]
- Make sure CUPS is the default printer in KDE. (partly fixes bug
#249). [Petter]
- I probably forgot something.
I have testet that the CD is bootable and installable using VMWare.

The following configuration for server and LTSP-server should work out
of the box:
- Apache
- CUPS
- DHCP
- DNS
- LDAP
- LTSP
- NFS/SMB
- NTP
- SMTP/IMAP
- SSH
- Squid
- Webmin
The following services do not work as they should:
- cfengine (need netgroups, ie LDAP or NIS)
- Backup (no one has worked on it)
- SQL-tjener (will not install automatically)
- ez publish (no one has worked on it)
- Appletalk (no one has worked on it)
- User administration (unfinished implementation)
Test it and find out more. :-)
The disk usage for the different profiles (in KiB) is as follows.
