I don't understand how this can happen.

Have you tried to burn the cd again? Maybe you have a badly burned cd?

Did you run a md5sum on your downloaded image? 

When the installation fails, you will be send back to the full 
main-menu, from there you can choose the option "Debug-Logs speichern" 
that will save the files to floppy, then mail those to me, please.
