I've made a new Skolelinux CD image, prerelease 43. It is available
from <URL:ftp://developer.skolelinux.no/skolelinux-cd/>. The image
size is 678 MiB.
Major changes since the previous image:
* In first stage installer (debian-installer):
+ Changed text and updated translations.
+ To many for me to remember.
* Increased the CD image from 650 to 677 MiB, trying to fit on a 700 MB CD.
This is a test, let me know if you have problems burning this larger CD
image.
* Renamed Skolelinux configuration and installation packages to use
debian-edu prefix. Most transition problems should be solved now.
* Merged package ldap-skolelinux into debian-edu-config.
* Included the new backupsystem (slbackup). The backupsystem is installed on
tjener, and the backup session is automatically started each night at
01.00. After the fresh installation, backups are stored on tjener (should
be moved to an external computer) and tjener is the only computer that is
backed up (users must by them selves configure backups for separate
thin-client-servers and/or other computers in the network). These
directories are backed up by default: /etc/, /skole/tjener/home0/ and /var/
backups/.
* Updated Debian Woody 3.0 (r2) released, with several new packages.
* Security updates to: kernel-image (to 2.4.22-4skolelinux)
* I probably forgot something.
I have testet that the CD is bootable and installable using VMWare.

The following configuration for server and LTSP-server should work out
of the box:
- Apache
- CUPS
- DHCP
- DNS
- LDAP
- LTSP
- NFS
- NTP
- SMTP/IMAP over SSL
- SSH
- Squid
- Webmin
- User administration
The following services do not work as they should:
- SMB (lack LDAP authentication)
- cfengine (need netgroups, ie LDAP or NIS)
- Backup (not ready yet)
- SQL-tjener (unable to install automatically)
- Appletalk (no one has worked on it)
- Host and service monitoring. (not ready yet)
Test it and find out more. :-)
The disk usage for the different profiles (in KiB) is as follows.
Please take the numbers with a small grain of salt.
