Debian Day + ISO testing @ Woodstock Grill: 31 August 2024
# Debian Day ZA 2024
Hi everyone! Debian Day is technically on the 18th of August, but due to
logistics, we're doing it on the 31st!
## Cape Town
Where: Woodstock Grill
https://www.eatout.co.za/venue/the-woodstock-grill-tap/
When: Saturday 31 August, from 12:30 until 19:00
(We have the conference room until 19:00, we can still hang out at the
venue afterwards)
### Debian's birthday
Debian is turning 31 years old!
We'll have some beer and food and cake to celebrate, and also catch up
on local team issues and plan work on our roadmap going forward, and
whatever other Debian topics we feel like.
Also a nice time to catch up with each other, since it's been a while
since we got together!
### Testing for upcoming release
We'll also be doing testing on the upcoming point releases for Debian
12.7 (stable) and Debian 11.11 (oldstable) point releases. If you want
to learn about things like ISO testing, how to set up system-wide email
on your machine, reporting bugs, and perhaps about virtualisation and a
few other tricks, then this session is for you!
If you're joining us for the testing part of Debian Day, it would be
useful if you sign up for an account on the Debian Wiki and the Debian
GitLab instance in advance:
https://salsa.debian.org/users/sign_up
https://wiki.debian.org/FrontPage?action=newaccount
If you can bring around one or two 4GB+ flash disks that we can use for
testing purposes, that would also be great (existing data on them would
be lost), and if you have a laptop that's powerful enough to test
installations in virtual machines, that's also great.
## Durban
Plans are possibly in the works, more info to follow!
See you there!
