They wont be completely new to this. All our labs runs different Linux
based distributions. We do not have any Windows machines expect for
those in the specialized labs. Students are encouraged/required to
work in a GNU/Linux environment for all there academic work. Having
said that, I might also add that many see it as something that is upon
them and a lot of them use Windows on there personal systems so the
motivation might be a little low.
