RE: merging configuration files on update, timeline?

Title: Re: merging configuration files on update, timeline?
I hope so. Once I have to update the kernel and I got a "Kernel panic". And no good information about how to return to the previous kernel .
Is there any visual guide about it ?.
In any case, I would update the Kernel using Debian Kernel package (binnaries). It would be interesting include a visual guide about it (in a similar way to Ubuntu guides).

This is a dpkg developement list and is thus not suited to discuss changes
concerning the kernel infrastructure. And with the default setup in Debian
you keep old kernels in your boot menu so you can always go back to a
working kernel if the new one doesn't work.
