Just to point out that this is a duplicate of: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=72140 a "general" bug report. I don't know which is the more appropriate. It all depends on the final implementation : dpkg include a new system, all packages set up something (env, rpath), ldconfig speedup, ... Thus i don't see if the general bug should be reassigned to dpkg or the opposite. Cheers Alban
