Wrong, this is a nasty problem and bugreporters have their word on the severity. Such kind of severity would be GRAVE, but because it is not a releasing architecture it is _only_ important. This bug was waiting for monthes someone in the dpkg team move his ass to apply this simple patch, so severity was bumped because there's no way this problem is left aside monthes again.
