Bug#197188: dpkg: lib/dump.c:180: varbufdependency: Assertion `dop->up == dep' failed.

Package: dpkg
Version: 1.10.23
Followup-For: Bug #197188

While apt-get dist-upgrade I got the following error:
[...]
Preparing to replace slang1a-utf8 1.4.9dbs-3 (using
.../slang1a-utf8_1.4.9dbs-6_i386.deb) ...
Unpacking replacement slang1a-utf8 ...
Setting up slang1a-utf8 (1.4.9dbs-6) ...

dpkg: ../../lib/dump.c:180: varbufdependency: Assertion `dop->up == dep'
failed.
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg exited unexpectedly

After doing a "apt-get --reinstall install slang1a-utf8" I got:
[...]
Preparing to replace slang1a-utf8 1.4.9dbs-6 (using
.../slang1a-utf8_1.4.9dbs-6_i386.deb) ...
Unpacking replacement slang1a-utf8 ...
Setting up slang1a-utf8 (1.4.9dbs-6) ...

So I am unable to reproduce the failure.
