Subject: dpkg-buildpackage does not include epochs in filenames
Message-ID: <Pine.LNX.3.96.980221233212.23538D-100000@monet>
MIME-Version: 1.0

Package: dpkg-dev
Version: 1.4.0.20
Severity: wishlist

dpkg-buildpackage does not include epochs in filenames. With that, scripts
have to run `dpkg -I' (or a similar command) to get the exact version of a
.deb. This produces a lot of unnecessary overhead for scripts like
lintian.

Thanks,

Chris

As Ben Collins wrote in this bug back in 1999, dpkg-buildpackage is not
going to change behaviour. You can use dpkg-deb -f foo.deb version
which is faster than dpkg -I.

I'm closing this bug.
