Bug#230434: new tar breaks dpkg-deb

<bdale> I don't think the DEBIAN/ problem is caused by the ./ stripping ... the dpkg-deb code fragment in 230434 is a find that's generating the list of files to hand to tar, and running that find by hand shows that '.' is emitted. so, I wonder if some other change in tar behavior is really at fault...
<bdale> (if you include '.', then pruning './DEBIAN' is pointless...)
...
<bdale> well, I'm betting --no-recursion is broken or something, since '.' is in the list of filenames being handed down the pipe to tar with a mess'o'options

(Leave this alone until somebody figures out what's really going on)
