API for interfacing package manager database
Hello,
I would like to interface with the Debian's package manager database
to 1) get a list of all installed packages 2) Given a package be able
to query about its dependencies and other similar tasks. Is there an
API to interface the database. Preferably Perl/Python/C. I know I can
do it via a shell script where I call dpkg command nd parse output,
but I wonder if this can be done directly.
