Now we have a good testcase. Summary for dpkg developers: when dpkg tries to overwrite a directory with a symlink (in the newer version of the package), it fails silently and leaves an empty directory instead of the symlink. To test that, see e.g. how libpng2 upgrades from the testing to the unstable version. Regards, -- .''`.
