at the moment it looks like I have to enjoy the ride, since I don't
know how to downgrade dpkg. All the --force-* are ignored, it looks
more that dpkg forces me. ;-)

Errors were encountered while processing:
 dpkg_1.9.21_i386.deb
 --force-overwright

I post this to the list, perhaps it is possible to have a solution for
this in future releases of dpkg. Thanks to all for their help.
