I try to build a package with
| dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot -sa -uc -us -v1.06.1+1.07beta1-patch2-0
but unfortunatly dpkg-genchanges' parsechangelog fails because it cannot
parse old style debian changelogs.

You need to give an exact version number as used in debian/changelog.
Anything else will break things.
