This problem affects both xfonts-100dpi and xfonts-75dpi.

I'm not sure if this is a bug in the xfonts packages or in dpkg itself.  I'll let you decide.  When attempting to upgrade, I get the following:

  Preparing to replace xfonts-100dpi 4.1.0-1 (using .../xfonts-100dpi_4.1.0-2_all.deb) ...
  Unpacking replacement xfonts-100dpi ...
  dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/xfonts-100dpi_4.1.0-2_all.deb (--unpack):
   unable to make backup link of `./usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi/lutBS24-ISO8859-1.pcf.gz' before installing new version: Unknown error 125
  dpkg-deb: subprocess paste killed by signal (Broken pipe)
  Running update-fonts-dir in 100dpi font directory...done.
  Running update-fonts-alias in 100dpi font directory...done.
