Package: dpkg
Version: 1.9.19
Severity: normal
I am unable tu purge libxml2. dpkg claims libwmf0.2 depends on it and so
does not allow removal, but libwmf0.2 is not installed according to dpkg:
$ dpkg -P libwmf0.2
dpkg - warning: ignoring request to remove libwmf0.2 which isn't installed.
$ dpkg -P libxml2
dpkg: dependency problems prevent removal of libxml2:
libwmf0.2-2 depends on libxml2 (>= 2.4.0-1).
dpkg: error processing libxml2 (--purge):
dependency problems - not removing
Errors were encountered while processing:
libxml2
I managed to get rid of libwmf0.2 with apg-get: apt-get remove libwmf0.2
removed it correctly. I did not try dpkg --remove.

libwmf0.2-2 is not the same as libwmf0.2
